Rarely showing her full face to her fans. Gabi Wilson (H.E.R) is R&B singer who is easily recognizable by her unique look "Big hair and big sunglasses". H.E.R which stands for "Having Everything Revealed" grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. She was originally introduced to the public as a piano prodigy at age 10, appearing on the "Today" show and covering Alicia Keys' music. She was signed to Sony at 14 and said though she wanted to release music at times, she appreciates the time she had to develop as an artist and work on songwriting and grow as a pianist, drummer and guitar (she plays electric, acoustic and bass guitar).
"The way that I released the music did exactly what I wanted it to, which was make people just listen to the music, and listen to the message for what it is because we tend to listen with our eyes sometimes. Sometimes it's all about hype, and I didn't want hype... I don't want people to love my music because of what I look like or who I know or whatever."
"I feel like maybe some people wouldn't have accepted the music if they knew I was 19," said H.E.R., who was that age when her first EP dropped. "Some people, they make these assumptions before they even listen to the music".
Recently, H.E.R performed “Nothing Compares 2 U” during the Emmys, sang “America the Beautiful” at the Super Bowl, and was awarded the song of the year award at the Grammys for her timely tune “I Can’t Breathe.” and she Wins the Best Original Song for “Fight For You” from "Judas and the Black Messiah" at the Academy Award (Oscars).
During the ceremony, H.E.R made an inspired speech in these words “Musicians, filmmakers I believe we have an opportunity and responsibility, to me, to tell the truth and to write history the way that it was and how it connects us to today and what we see going on in the world today, knowledge is power, music is power and as long as I’m standing I’m always going to fight for us, I’m always going to fight for my people and fight for what’s right and I think that’s what music does and that’s what storytelling does"
